Why are you thankful this holiday season?
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. I enjoy all the sights and scents that pertain to this day. The aromas coming at you from all directions; the kitchen, the candles, etc. The sounds are loud at times and peaceful others; touchdown screams, clinking of glasses, "oh, you burned the rolls again", to saying grace at the table.
It is a holiday when I feel that we take time to enjoy each other. The most important term in the last sentence is the time.
Specifically, we are in such a hurry to get through the conversation, the bottom line, what can you do for me, that we do not listen. If you need to communicate to someone in customer service, they are graded on how quickly they get you off the phone on to the next customer. The insanity is that while you are waiting, they ask you to do a survey at the end of the call. They expect you to wait on them!
November twenty-seventh I am going to start a new. Yes, I have heard the same story about Auntie Bobbie a hundred times from my mother. I will listen to it 101 times to make her feel what she talks about; I truly listen.
November twenty-eight I will try to incorporate the above in my daily life a little more. I yearn that we could slow down a bit; time is a very valuable commodity. We only have so much.
Please be kind, generous and listen closely. We all want to feel valuable and appreciated!
