It is the time to spring up your curb appeal and outdoor living... The signs of Spring has definitely arrived here in Frisco, Texas. Two weeks ago, we still had our biggest snow fall I've seen in Frisco. That's Texas 101 Weather for you......
But Spring is on its full gears here and now. OFFICIALLY. Are you ready for some pretty colors in your yard and say Goodbye to the brown grass?
In North Texas, you would put your fertilizers down on April 1, June 1, August 1 and October 1. I typically like to buy just fertilizers and not the weed-and-feed type. For weeds, I have befriends RoundUp or Weedstop. I do feel that just having a separate application of fertilizer and weed are most effective. The most effective way of taking care of the weeds is to actually hand pick each one. But sometimes, it is understandable that you just keep mowing the eye sore down.
Consider a good flowerbed edging to your home. It can enhance the look of your home, thus bringing you a good value to the house. It is pretty typical for homeowners to use the same bricks for the flowerbed edging. Some use the white austin stones too. Apply a good mortar to the edging to prevent it from cracking in the future. If you wanted a less formal look, you could also purchase moss rocks and line your flowerbeds with them. It is also easier to lay.
If you have surplus bricks sitting in the garage, consider enlarging and edging your walkway with the bricks. It finishes the look of your walkway and invites your guests in.
It is also time to purchase some annual colors for your front yard. Nothing welcomes guests more than a beautiful curb appeal. My favorite choices are begonias or petunias. Also, go all out with them. Massively display them in your front yard, under the tree flowerbeds and in pots.
Mix your flowerbeds with perennials such as daylilies and roses. By doing it this way, you do not have to purchase tons of flats just for the colors each year.
You can also purchase some yard ornaments to add some finishing touches to your landscape. Please do not forget the generous layer of mulch too!
