The misunderstood Turkey.

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with WHISPERING PINES REALTY 20398180

I believe it was one of our forefathers...Ben Franklin, (I could have the wrong name)  That wanted to make the Turkey our National Bird.

I understand why, because it played a big role in the early settlers survival.

But, thankfully the Eagle was chosen instead to be our symbol of strength, although it is wounded from lack of suport in today's world.

But the Turkey is still honored buy our leaders every year.

The Turkey is still loved by many Americans to this day.

Why?

Yes...I am afraid that is the biggest reason for the popularity of the Turkey.

It was better that the truly was not chosen as the National Bird, I would guess that an eagle would not taste very good for Thanksgiving

The turkey would be a funny national bird to have.  I don't just love a turkey for it's breast - I love the thighs, too!

The Turkey back in Ben's day was much different than today's hybred bird.

They say the best part of the turkey are the breasts, but I'm also a big fan of the thighs.  Happy Turkey Day!

That's great, Bill. I"m also glad the turkey wasn't made our national bird. I've raise wild and domestic turkey. They are not the kind of bird I would want as a national symbol of this country.

I can understand how the turkey could missunderstand our love of white meat.

William, this is so funny!  Glad the eagle is the national bird.  If turkeys were, it might be harder to eat them and they taste wonderful.  Of course, we have no idea what eagles taste like.  Hmmm.
