More cool art space is popping up all over Miami Beach. This one in the now under construction Faena Blocks. You may recall I wrote about the $60M penthouse that sold there a week ago.
Designer Rem Koolhaas has designed a new place for those in need of an inspirational setting. The space is scheduled to open in time for Art Basel in Miami Beach in 2015.
The code name for now is the Faena Forum, dubbed as such after the artistically inclined developer Alan Faena. Faena says that he likes to stay in the world of "building utopias," and will build out the Faena District with this Forum at the center.
The Faena Forum is going to span 50,000 sq. ft. and the flexible space will host events and cultural programming with a Latin American slant in the arts, urbanism, politics, science, and technology.
The end goal in the Faena District: develop six blocks of waterfront real estate into mixed-use properties with luxury apartments. The project would also entail the construction of the Faena Hotel Miami Beach, as an homage to old Hollywood. The creative design would be handled by none other than Great Gatsby director Laz Luhrmann. Luxury, glamour, and art....we like that in Miami Beach!
