Personal Protection...do you know how to use it?
Everyone should read that that carries any kind of personal protection.
Even those who have and are thinking of doing so.
There is a lot more to protecting yourself than just dropping some mace or whatever into the bottom of your purse or briefcase.
Read and learn from someone whom I have complete faith in.
OK...most people will say yes.
But I will argue that fact. This story nearly had a sad ending.
A friend sent his daughter to college. With her he sent some Mace for her protection. Last week she was attacked. When confronted by the attacker...the young lady started digging in her purese for her 'protection'.
The attachker waited for her to pull the canister out, then proceeded to take it from her and spray her with it. Her screams attracted several people which scarred off the attacker.
The young lady although shaken was physically fine.
I asked the dad if she knew how to use the mace. "Yes, I showed her how."
Did you have her use it? I asked."No".
Then how do you know she really knew how to use it?
Several issues came up with this...
Do you know how to use it? and I am not talking about the romance type of protection...
Have you actually used it on a practice target, if now, how do you know how to use it.
What is it doing in the bottom of a purse?
I could continue with the questions for the next hour.
Point...if you are going to rely on that protection, you need to have it in hand whenever there could be a possible threat.
You need to be able to use it blindfolded!!! Just like it was totally dark where you were.
Prevention is your best defense. Walk with others. If you are alone, see if there is an escort available.
I have now taught this young lady how to use her mace. She is not proficient with it, but now knows how to use it and how to carry it.
Our practice session used 8 canisters of mace just to get her comfortable handling it and how to spray it in relation to the person that is the threat.
Personal protection is great. I carry both mace and a firearm depending on the situation. I can work both in the dark in under 3 seconds which in reality is a long time when you are being attacked.
If you have mace on you and have never actually used it on a target...you may as well throw it out because you are more likely to get it used on yourself that to ward off an attacker.
Please...BE SAFE!!!!!
