The Hostility of Convenience…..

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Referral Group Incorporated

What happened in Missouri is tragic. A kid is dead and the area is in turmoil. This is also true in New York, and Ohio. Kids are murdered everywhere everyday and it is hard to get my mind around this. The kids that were murdered in Newtown are not forgotten, but they are just as dead. After every tragic loss there is analysis and overwhelming sense of grief.

When injustice warrants protest, the outcome is in most instances far from quick or purposeful. In Missouri protest has led to larceny and the goal of the those who want better, and care more, has been tarnished by the hostility that that often comes with convenience. Let the discussions continue but let the vandals be arrested and punished. Injustice should never fuel anarchy. May all those who are profiled, who have suffered and still do, and those who have lost, be strengthened by the reality that many of us mourn with you.

Sheila,

No one of any race or creed wants to see their children die before their time.

We have so many "experts" in all the communities and government that point a finger to how a situation should be handled and fotget that there are three fingers pointing at themselves!

Those vandals and thugs A- will never be brought to justice and B- are creating more of the thing they don't want the most... to be seen as vandals and thugs and thereby treated with less respect.  It's beyond sad.  I am just praying for all of them.  Also I am praying this doesn't spread to a town near me where my husband and daughter could potential be put in danger and I certainly pray for all the police, EMTs, Medics and Firefighters that are in harms way because of protesters that are not peaceful.

I will get down off my soap box now.

Good evening friends and thank you for stopping by and leaving your comments and offering your support: I really appreciate it.

Hello Raymond. It is so very sad and then there are those who sully the tragedy with their own agenda. Makes me very very upset. Thank you.

Hi Tammy. Protesters don't pillage and loot. I was a child of the sixties and did my share of protesting. Like you I pray for the people and hope that the situation gets better. I feel for your concerm for firefighters, cops, EMT's and medics who are there to help. There are really no more words. Thank you.

Hello Gene. You have honored me with your comments and I am touched.  My heart breaks too. Have a good evening.

Unfortunately Sheila, injustice after injustice can in fact lead to anarchy.  There will always be opportunists who look for an excuse to vandalize and pillage but for most people, frustration which is not addressed through the legal system, does lead to danger and incredible destruction.

Hello Joanna. I hope you are wrong, it does nothing but exacerbate an already tragic situation.     Sheila

Kid?  A convenience store robber was shot and killed by a police officer.  A Grand Jury found no cause to indict that law enforcement officer.

The looters, and those who have threatened to rape and kill the wives of the police officers in that town, are also criminals.  They should be dealt with accordingly.

Good evening Fred. I understand your point of view but disagree. He was a big guy but he was someones child nonetheless. The robbery was a separate issue. I think I fall somewhere between you and Joanna. Thank you for joining the discussion.    Sheila

It pains me to see the riots, to see these thugs take advantage of a very tragic situation as an excuse to cause such havoc. They should all be arrested and dealt with accordingly, but what are the odds of that?

Sheila Anderson - I wish in instances like this both sides wouldn't dig their heels in on their opinions and use it to politicize their views. Regardless of whether you think justice was served or not we should be able to talk about what to do moving forward.

It's complicated Nicole and talk doesn't always fix things.    Sheila

No, you're right, it doesn't always fix things but constructive dialogue is always the beginnings of change. Right now we can't even have that because whoever is on either side of the debate refuses to listen to the other side.

You are right, I don't mean to confuse protesters with the vandals and thugs.

Sheila - Well said. It is terrible what happened, butwhile I think justice was served, there is still so much to do. I think the community of Ferguson needs to pick itself up and make positive changes, not expect others to do it for them.
