Unity on the Bay, the large all inclusive church in Edgewater with a fantastic waterfront piece of real estate wants to sell most of its parking lot. At one point the church was in talks with two developers to purchase about two-thirds of the congregation's large surface parking lot along 22nd Street. Both, however, have dropped out of talks, and now Unity's looking for a new deep-pocketed developer for the parcel.

This is across the side street (NE 22 ST) from Paramount Bay (glass building in back ground). For those that may remember the movie "All About Mary" with Cameron Diaz and Ben Stiller, this building sits on the site of where the historic mansion was that Mary lived in. It was supposed to be saved but something like a giant crane accidentally fell on it during construction and had to be demolished. Heard that before.

Hi Marco.  Where will the church parishioners park after 2/3 of the parking lot is sold?

I was thinking likewise Conrad!  Marco I wonder if zong allows the church to continue without supplying parking.  Off street would never suffice for the amount of parishioners that attend Unity.  I, myself, have attended events at this location so I know first hand parking challenges.   The wonders of development...perhaps the church will build a multi level parking garage over their magnicificent gardens.

Marco Giancola - Very intriguing. I wonder what the motiviation is to sell off your parking lot space but not the building. I'm not in commercial real estate so maybe it's just above my head.

Hi Conrad Allen,  Eileen Burns no clue-maybe they would make a deal with the developer for garage space.

Hey Nicole Doty Gilbert Real Estate Expert I know I agree-another little church in the design district just sold the land and building for $10M and are relocating.

This is very creative of the church.  I bet they raise some substantial funds over this.

So a crane fell on the historic home???  How crazy is that.  I bet if it were a new multi million dollar home, the crane would not have fallen on it.  Just sayin.

Hey Belinda Spillman I agree with you on the historic home part. It was such a great representation of 1920's old Florida stately homes. They were building the condo tower around it but that caused a strange entrance for the building then opps! Problem solved!

I'm wondering if it's a sin to sell a parking lot? If you're a church.

Marco,  I remember that Cameron Diaz movie.  I'll have to re-view it to see if I recognize the building.  Too bad about the historiz house.  I bet it had lots of charm and character.  (Stupid Crane!)
