Known as “The Rose City”, Madison is a borough in Morris County, NJ. Madison is a railroad suburb of New York City. New Jersey Transit's Madison station provides commuter service on the Morristown Line, with trains heading to Hoboken Terminal, and to Manhattan. NJ Transit also provides local bus service.
The Madison Public Schools serve students in kindergarten through twelfth grade. Madison is also a college area. Drew University's borders Madison, the Madison-Florham Park Campus of Fairleigh Dickinson University, as well as the College of St. Elizabeth in Convent Station, are adjacent to town. A portion of Fairleigh Dickinson University is located on the former Madison estate of Florence Vanderbilt and Hamilton Twombly. The downtown area in Madison is a quaint shopping district, that is also just minutes from the famed Short Hills Mall.
