We used to have a great Thanksgiving.
Family that we don't get to see very often. We would play games and laugh.
Today...We ate and got things cleaned up and most went out shopping.
No games, chit chat or any other interaction.
Sadly...they didn't even got shopping together.
I long for the olden days where Holiday's were treated as so...family time!
William Feela, I agree!!! Thanksgiving isn't about shopping, it's about spending quality time with family.
There were some fantastic deals for the shoppers today. We did not take them up on any of the deals though. We ate, visited and played games. Now all have gone home and I am tired. Happy Thanksgivng to you.
I went to the cousins' house this afternoon. Aunt Dores talked about her grandfather fighting in the Civil War, and the time that the Tarzan movies were being filmed south of Tallahassee, and her husband (Uncle Tom) who was a barber went and cut the hair of "Boy" and of Johnny Weismuller.
Meanwhile, we shot a game of pool on the table in the family room. The little kids played some games on the floor, and the big kids rode ATV's around the yard.
THAT is how Thanksgiving should be!
It was just Debbie and I today. We ate lunch out, watched football and put up the tree. It was a good day for us but none of that crazy shopping! Times they are sadly changing.

Oh no!! Couldn't they at least have waited until Black Friday? Sorry to hear it but you can choose to make it different next year.
My mom just commented, "KOHL's opens at midnight tonight! Want to go?!" Of course, she was kidding with me. So, I kidded back, "SURE!! Only 45 minutes away. Why not!?"
She and I do not do Black Friday. :)
Love family time on Thanksgiving and counting our blessings! Too many to list!
William, I spent the day with friends, and we were all in much too much of a turkey coma to even think about going shopping. I'm about to fall asleep over my computer keyboard.
I agree with you WIlliam. It seems the meaning of the holidays has been lost, well, ignored. Pam & I went to our 3rd son's girlfriends house. It was a treat to be a guest instead of a host. All left a bit plumper
Happy Thanksgiving Bill! Though the visit was short at least you got to enjoy a meal together.
Sometimes our family members are so tired from the day to day activities that the day after is view as just a good opportunity to sleepin and do nothing.
Yes 'Bill...it seams that the family gets pulled apart at every corner.
