AT HOME IN RYE NEW HAMPSHIRE - Rye is a beautiful scenic small town located right on the coast of New Hampshire.  We have the smallest coastline in the country, but it's beauty nonetheless!  As New England is known for, we have some rocky coastal areas as well as some beautiful sandy stretches of beach, too.

Rye NH - Sandy Beach

Our coastline offers some wonderful scenery and beautiful peaceful settings along the coastal route of 1-A which follows the ocean.  You'll find great fishing spots, as well as whale-watching trips and deep-sea fishing cruises in Rye Harbor.  Rye NH Rocky and Sandy Beach

The drive along Route 1-A, Ocean Boulevard, is so tranquil, it just really can soothe your soul.  There are some truly stunning homes along this drive, most were built as summer homes in the Victorian times.  Today, many of them are now used as year-round residences.  Rye became the summer playground for the rich and famous during the early 1900's for many years.  Many of the local residents today can trace their roots many generations back to the early settlers of Rye.
 Rye NH Junior High Schoool

Students in Rye attend Rye Elementary School and Rye Junior High School, and then Portsmouth High School, as part of the School Admininstrative Unit #50.  Rye Elementary covers pre-school through 5th grade, and Rye Junior High scovers 6th grade through 8th.

The Rye PTA (Parent Teacher Association) is very active, holding monthly meetings at the Rye Library during the school year.  They take an active role in the Rye Schools' slogan of "every child - one voice".

Rye is in a great location - right along the Atlantic Ocean, an hour's drive south into Boston and an hour north to Portland, MaineManchester and Manchester Airport is about a 45 minute drive west, and loads of winter skiing can be found within less than a 2 hour drive from Rye.  Portsmouth is the next town over, just minutes away.

Ines - Yep! Whale watching is big off the coast here - lots of whale watching cruises to choose from!   We have lots of deep-sea fishing charter boats, too.  I would think seeing manatees and dolphins would be really cool!  Thanks for reading!

Jay - NOT today, that's for sure!  I couldn't get anywhere to take pics if I wanted to, unless they were of my own snowy backyard or something fun like that!

I just love that drive along the coast - if I ever want to feel calm and at peace and be outside, that's the drive I take.  It just has a way of really soothing you, at least it does that for me.

Thanks for reading!

Rye is a great place to live...especially along the coastal route of 1A. I showed some wonderful waterfront homes up there a few years ago. I was just dying to live there!!!

Monika - NOW's a great time to be a buyer.....  ;-)  There are some great properties for sale and the prices today are prices we probably won't see again for some time to come......I know someone who can help you out.   ;-)

It is a beautiful place to live, and the ocean is always a draw for many people.   I feel very fortunate to live where I do and be as close to the water as I am.
