Secret Agents

How many agents out there are secret agents?  By that I mean do you wear name tags or corporate apparel when you are out and about?  I have to admit, I don't always wear my name tag, and I don't have a lot of corporate apparel.  I have business clothes, and try to dress like a professional, there is just nothing that says that I am a realtor.  One of the aspects of the training that I blogged on yesterday was that we need to be agents when we are out and about.

The other aspect of wearing your profession, is that you have to be prepared to be enthusiastic about your market.  I know that when I do remember to wear my name tag, I usually get one person that wants to know how real estate is doing.  I will admit, I wasn't as prepared as I needed to be, so that is a new leaf that I am working on turning over: wearing my name tag, and wanting someone to ask me about real estate, so that I can talk to them.  Have a Great Weekend!

I don't wear a name tag unless I am at a closing or a showing or other event.  I do wear shirts with my logos on it.  People are always asking how business is.

Sometimes I still have mine on (accidentally) after work when I stop to get groceries.  I always seem to run into opportunities that way!

I haven't since I lost my name tag. Oh there is a difference. People act different when you are wearing it. Now I have begun to wear shirts and hats with logos. No payoff yet.

Secret agent in New York has an entirely different definition.  It is an individual who works as an agent but isn't a member of the local real estate board.  Makes appts, shows properties but doesn't pay dues or even have a license.

I wear my name tag anytime I am working. It does work in getting notice.

One of my mentors always said: "A closed mouth equals a closed business." If we don't talk about our business - and wear our name badges or other identifying items that show we're in real estate, then we are indeed secret agents.

I also wear my name tag anytime I'm working and then when I'm not if I haven't had a chance to change.  People will stop and talk with you.

I'm pretty much a Secret Agent but I do so much advertising and have lived in a small time most of my life, so not a lot of need.

Thanks for your responses, I looks like I have pretty much been shooting myself in the foot by not wearing a name tag or corporate apparel

You are certainly on target as you never know where you will pick up a client.  I wear my badge most places and recently had someone in the airport waiting lounge ask for my assistance.  Others overhead and soon I had a 2nd contact.

We certainally need to be on at all time when we are wearing those tags.  I remember walking into OSH and I was greeted by my name and asked I knew so and so.

that's a really good point - the secret  agent thing - wear your pin and be proud!
