Take Advantage of Every Opportunity, Business is Everywhere You Are

Reblogger Praful Thakkar

If you meet a stranger who talks about real estate, what would you do? Will you disclose who you are?

As  Debbie Reynolds says, in this re-blog - there is a business opportunity everywhere around us. We just need to let them know that we'd love to help them.

Take Advantage of Every Opportunity, Business is Everywhere You Are

Take advantage of every opportunityWhen new agents come to me and ask for any tips I can give them that will help them succeed, I always share that there is enough real estate business for everyone that wants to go get it. Business is everywhere we go and I tell them about taking advantage of every opportunity they encounter whatever the circumstances are and wherever they may be. These are just 3 of the examples I give them about how business is out there for the asking.

  1. When I make calls and get a wrong number I don't just apologize and hang up. I let the party know that I am a real estate agent and that I was calling to reach someone to let them know about a good piece of real estate. The calls generally become nice two-way conversations where I can ask about their situation. Many times over I have gotten appointments because I just asked for the business.
  2. The neighbors like to come to my open houses. I beat them to the punch by going and knocking on their doors when I list a property near them. I leave my card and ask them to help me find them a good neighbor. Then I left hem know when I will be doing an open house and invite them to come and tell their friends. This has rendered leads and got me many new listings. They tend to like to extra effort that is shown.
  3. While traveling I am not afraid to talk real estate. I have gotten business from people sitting next to me on a plane. I have attended my husband's conventions and gotten to send referrals for people that would be selling in other parts of the country. It is all in the asking and taking advantage of every opportunity.

There are so many more. When I was having my heart surgery my doctor saw my blackberry by the bed. This lead to a real estate conversation and he started asking me about owning rental property and how sdo you handle it. You see, business is everywhere you are as long as you take advantage of every opportunity.
