This Sacramento REALTOR battled three-for-three yesterday in our torrential downpour; we need rain so desperately that I am just happy to see water falling from the skies and forming puddles in the street. I covered both sides of my territory, too, driving from Land Park to Roseville, then out to Lincoln and finally over to south Sacramento. Could not fully accomplish my objectives.
The home in Roseville was locked up tight and none of the keys worked. I was grateful for the porch roof that kept the raindrops off my head.
The lockbox in Lincoln was missing the key basket; which is terribly when that happens because the box is pretty much useless. I gave the bottom of the box to a seller who wanted to do a short sale because he told me he did not have a spare key. Never heard back from him. He no longer responded to emails or voice mails. He was very upset when he learned that to do a Fannie Mae short sale these days, you need to be living in the property to get a relocation incentive. If you lie about it and the lender finds out, that is mortgage fraud and they can take away your release of liability. I think he forgot that he told me he was living in the home, and when I got there, it was vacant. He wanted to pretend to be living there, and that doesn't work, either. They look in the 'frig, for crying out loud. I have no time for people who are dishonest.
Then, the home in south Sac was vacant, and the code for the garage combination did not work. I peeked through the fence boards and the back yard was completely littered with empty soda pop bottles and other crap. The shingle siding -- the stuff that could or could not have asbestos -- was falling apart, breaking off, detriorating. Two layers of comp on the roof were curling up on the edges. Somebody would buy this, believe it or not. There is always a buyer. But not if I can't get into the house.
