Realtor® Communications with buyers and sellers

Sandpoint IdahoCommunication within the Real Estate field remains one of the top areas needed for improvement according to National Association of Realtors®' surveys.   I have mentioned before my believe in continual education.  Yesterday I participated in an exercise that was an incredible eye opener.  Probably one of the biggest I have ever had in any class or seminar.  Even with its simplicity it really drove home the importance of Realtor® Communications with buyers and sellers.

We simply formed two lines as we headed out of the conference room.  The instructor tagged one person to close their eyes and the other to be their guide.  I was with eyes shut.  I was immediately uneasy even with my partner having hold of my arm, as if a date, and talking to me.  We walked outside, the Coeur D' Alene Keller William's training room, and up some steps.  I had seen these steps 100's of times and yet now very uneasy going up them.

Sandpoint Idaho Real Estate I became  more comfortable as my 'guide' started telling me in advance what was coming..."10 more feet of level Mark and then we will be going up last flight with a handrail on the right."  "Ok we are here step up about 6 inches". His communications grew as he saw me move more confidently and I moved more confidently knowing he was there to guide me.

The parallel is easily drawn.  While I have done what I thought was a good job in communicating with my clients,  I don't believe it was near enough, especially in moving through a transaction.  There is so much more I can do to increase my clients comfort zone.  This exercise will always be a vivid reminder of how important Realtor® Communications with buyers and sellers really is while working with clients.   My next office meeting I am going to suggest the same  exercise to benefit those who were not at the Keller Williams BOLD Class.

I so agree with "tell them what's coming" as surprises in real estate are usually not a good thing.

I've done a similar excercise in my class, but we have no interior steps, maybe we'll move it outside next time.

Sounds like this exercise was beneficial in more ways than one! Great takeaway from this, Mark.

Tammy Lankford , yes I believe moving outside made a difference.  Street noise, even shawdows became very troublesome.  Mark

Suzanne De Vita probably just one of those excersizes that affect different people different ways.  It really drove home a point to me.  This 2nd time for this class and picking up many new items not even seen 1st time.  Frame of mind?

Thank you for stopping by both.  Mark

I'll have to consider this exercise, just as a way to remind myself of how to work with my clients.  We get so comfortable so quickly, we as the professionals forget.
