How do you know if the credit repair company you're entrust with your client's personal information is the best choice?  Does their sales pitch portray an accurate picture of the services they deliver?  What red flags should you look for?  How do you distinguish the actual features from the hype?

Here's a list of general guidelines that you and your clients can use when you're choosing a credit repair company.

Important Things To Consider

  1. Personal Consultation -  Each person is unique and thus every aspect of our lives are different from each others.  A good company will spend the time to get to know your client's goals and their current situation.  As each client's credit report will differ from the next, the actions to be taken must be addressed and this can only be done with a consultation with a client.  This is probably the most important aspect of getting your credit restored.  If a company's not willing to spend at least 30 minutes to an hour with you, they're not worth the money.
  2. Debt Negotiation - Hopefully this isn't an option you need to utilize, but in the case you do, make sure that they can do it.  Even the best credit repair agencies can't get everything removed, and in that case, you want to make sure that you'll be able to utilize every means necessary to repair your credit.
  3. Helping Establish New Credit - Okay, so you've had all your negative items deleted.  Now what?  A good company will help you reestablish your credit by assisting you open new accounts and establishing new trade-lines.

Not Too Important Things To Consider But Nice To Have

  1. Testimonials - People like to see what other people are saying.  Unless it comes with a full name and contact information, they're just words on a page.  Nice to read, but more of a feel good thing.
  2. Results - What we do for Mr. Smith has nothing to do with what we can do for you.  Once again, nice to look at, but since everyone's situation is different, your results will be different.  Like the testimonials, it's nice to read but it has no direct correlation with you.
  3. Number of Clients - What are we McDonalds?  Just because a company is so big that it may have it's own zip code and could populate a small neighborhood with the clients they've helped, doesn't mean that they're the best at what they do, just the biggest.  If you're doing the same thing long enough, you're expected to grow and amass numbers, but that isn't a direct reflection of how great a company is.

Hopefully this list will be a good outline for choosing the right company for you.  We like to think that we encompass the pros we listed above.  Keep in mind this isn't an all inclusive list and ultimately you should use a company that you and your clients are comfortable dealing and working with.  Honesty, trusty, and ethics are very important as well as a strong dose of common sense.  Check out their credentials and ask for references.  After all, it's your client we're talking about.  If you'd like to know more about us, just ask!
