The other day while driving to preview some property--I noticed that there was a slight "rumble" from my rear tire that hadn't been there before.  Thinking that perhaps I had knocked a weight off of the rim while bouncing around some dirt roads, I made a mental note to take it in and have my wheels balanced again.

When I took my truck into the tire dealership the next day, the tech told me that someone had switched tires with me, substituting their tire that was about to blow out due to separated belts for my good tire.  Apparently this happens more often than you'd think on vehicles with factory wheels:  it is quick and easy if someone has a good jack and a larcenous streak.

To make a long story short, the guys at C&J Tire & Wheel in Tucson, Arizona set me up with a new tire to replace the bad one...and applied the warranty that was still left on the stolen one.  They saved me $70 or so by being kind enough to do something that they didn't have to do.  I have now put locking lugnuts on all 4 wheels.

I am so impressed with their kind business practice that they have gained a customer for life, and referrals from me anytime someone mentions tires in my presence.

Thanks, C&J!

I can't believe someone would have the nerve to do that!  Thieves are getting really brave.  It is nice to hear about your positive experience with the tire business.  This makes we want to run out and buy wheel locks!

Thats crazy...who would do that.  Good thing you figured it out in time before a blow out.

Laura - thanks for being the first to comment.  It really blew me away, but the silver lining in this cloud is the service that C&J Tire showed above & beyond.

Chuck - I shudder to think what might have happened if I had clients with me.

Kent:  What a great story.  Perhaps when you refer people you meet to C&J Tire... you could of course give them one of your cards.  Two referrals for the price of one.

I'm glad you let them know that hundreds, possibly thousands of other realtors will be reading in your blog what a stand-up company they are.  A rare breed indeed.

Sometime when people do things like that just make you wonder. Kent is sounds like you handled the situation calmly and as a result you received and act of kindness from another.

Kent - Wow thats pretty scary actually that the culprits actually could of done this in front of your house without you knowing, I heard of cars on cement blocks for tire jacking, but tire swapping? Wow the thieves are really getting smart guess cement blocks are a dead give away and tire swapping seems normal to cops I guess.

Karen Anne - I'm giving them a stack tomorrow--after I show them the blog!

Guy - I hope that they get some benefit out of the publicity.

Kevin - thanks for the kind words.  Funny thing, I even got a "gimme cap" & gave it to my racing buddy.

Justin - pretty slick thieves, yep.  Thanks for commenting.

Hi Kent,

That took someone with guts.  It just amazes me that someone can do that to anyone.  I should be used to it by now since I grew up in Los Angeles, but it still amazes me.

Bill - I was more blown away yesterday.  This morning, I am thankful.  Just when you think something is seriously wrong, another person steps up in this world to make it right (even if you don't notice it immediately).
