The holiday season may bring less daylight hours but the activities are plentiful and for those residents in Murphy TX Christmas in the Park proved to be eventful. The city of Murphy hosted the celebration on Thursday, December 4th keeping it from conflicting with the much larger events in the area. The festivites began at 5:00 pm as did the rain - light thank goodness. It didn't keep the choirs from local schools from singing nor did it turn us away from the tree lighting at 6:20 pm which by that time the rain had let up.
Along the sides were vendors of all sorts selling their holiday wares or foods. In the back was a fire pit roaring for all those willing to roast marshmallows. Santa was there but my eyes were focused on the lighting of the tree. The Christmas tree has always been my favorite. We did spot a home in our drive-by that we would give the grand prize to if we were judging the HOA contest. All in all it was a joyful evening and a reminder of the reason for the season.
