Getting a New Snowmobile? Check Out the Rules for St. Michael MN!

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Marshall Enterprises

St. Michael is a great place to live.  And, when you have a snowmobile, it is even better!  We have all types of areas to run your gear….but, make sure that you know the rules, and get the kids involved in a class to learn the ropes, too!

And, by this I mean that the City is very responsive to its citizens!

Snowmobiles here in the outlying suburbs have rules, too.

Here are the rules as set out by the City.

Hours of Operation:

Sunday through Thursday    8 am to 11 pm

Friday and Saturday            8 am to 1 am

Snowmobiles are not allowed on private property except by permission of the owner of the property.

No snowmobiling on sidewalks, trails parks or public sliding hills.

Operation of snowmobiles in residential areas is prohibited except between curbs on public streets.

Operation on lakes: snowmobiling is permitted except within 100 feet of any person fishing, a fish house, pedestrian or skating rink.

Stay safe out there.  You can find a copy of the snowmobile ordinance at www.ci.st-michael.mn.us

Hi Ron - I used to live in an area where snowmobiles were a legit form of transportation for the winter months, and they're great fun, but the rules make it fun for everyone. A safety class for the kids is a great idea too.

I guess we have ATVs that the equivalent here.  I've had to have a chat with a few parents about the private property rules a time or two.

Ron, I have never been on a snowmobile but it looks lots of fun for sure. Having strict rules makes very good sense to me. How much snow do you have on the ground right now? Have great evening..

Ron, I've never had the opportunity to ride a snowmobile but I've watched plenty of Alaska Troopers and know its away of life for many. Always important to obey the rules.

I really like your profile photo.... Happy Holidays to you and yours.

We have less than an inch of  snow right now...after our pretty good snowfall in November which was then covered in ice....but it all melted with our temps close to 50 for several days.  No sun, but warm temps still makes for a good snow melt!

Ron Marshall , I am not a big fan of snowmobiles...since one friend died on one....and our cat got run over by one....so I am all in favor of the rules of the road for snowmobilers!

Ron Marshall I used to love snowmobiling when I lived in the great white north country, but here in San Diego; it's just not going to happen!

This is good advice for area residents. I have never operated a snowmobile so I would have to get lessons from you.

Ron Marshall , you know that my sled is my favorite form of transportation and recreation during the winter, but I insist that everyone follow the rules of the road....until we are off road and can zip around!  We just make sure that everyone has safety equipment and can handle their own sled and watch out for others, too.

NO snowmobiles here at least not until it snows...you will not find any in town perhaps in the ski resorts.

I love to snowmobile. I use to do it all the time. Out in the wild country where there weren't any rules. But in places where there are rules...I'm all about following along and playing nice.

Great localism post, Ron.

Hi Ron -- snowmobiles are uncommon in our area but for those places where snow is an issue, these rules will seem like common sense --- which as we know needs to be stated and reinforced quite often.

Ron,

A snowmobile is a must have in your neck of the woods but I do like the rules they make sense! I hope you are having a great day!

Never been on one and might love to some day but it would have to be somewhere beside home as we are 75 degrees on Christmas day.

Snowmobile deaths are up this year....and I think it is because there is so little snow in most places and bitter windchills.  Stick to the rules of the road, and  go with a buddy or someone so that you stay safe!
