The Versatility of Marsala.

And the Pantone Color of 2015 is...
Marsala. The folks at Pantone describe the color as a naturally robust and earthy wine red, "Marsala enriches our minds, bodies and souls." You've got to hand it to them, they make it sounds pretty irresistible. I'll take a bath in the Marsala, please.
"Much like the fortified wine that gives Marsala its name, this tasteful hue embodies the satisfying richness of a fulfilling meal while its grounding red-brown roots emanate a sophisticated, natural earthiness. This hearty, yet stylish tone is universally appealing and translates easily to fashion, beauty, industrial design, home furnishings and interiors."
The Versatility of Marsala.
The red-brown warmth of the shade is apparently very flattering to all skin tones and men and women should both find the color appealing. Designers say, for decorating purposes, the matte finish underscores the color's organic nature, while adding sheen transforms the color to a sophisticated level of glamour and luxury.I'm not sure I'll be incorporating this color into my design scheme this year. And to be quite honest, while I enjoy seeing the Pantone color choice each year, it has little impact on my daily life. I didn't rush out and purchase Radiant Orchid last year, nor did I color my world Emerald Green in 2013.
The Pantone Color of the Year is an Annual Reminder
However, color does have the power to evoke emotion and affect our mood. In a study called Impact of Color in Marketing, researchers found that up to 90% of snap judgments made about products can be based on color alone. The highly regarded marketing duo of Ron and Alexandra Seigel, frequently blog about the importance of color choices in successful branding.
As the Language of Luxury consultants often point out, colors for branding purposes need to reflect a regional marketplace. For example, Alaska and Hawaii both have plenty of blues and greens in nature, and yet starkly reflect different shades of those colors. It would be odd to use a regional color theme that's a mismatch to natural surroundings. And, as we know, incongruities can create a sense of doubt.
As 2014 comes to a close, the Pantone Color of the Year selection offers a good reminder for us. Color is powerful - make sure your branding color theme accurately reflects who who are - and where you work.
