Technical Difficulties

We are very sorry for the technical difficulties today. We are replacing all Hamsters with Rats. Rats don't care what we feed them. They will eat anything. Our hamsters have been very picky eaters lately and therefor not running in their wheels like they normally do. We will show those picky hamsters.......in fact, the Rats first meal just might be.........well never mind, I wouldn't want to offend any hamster lovers.......

* One main issue we are addressing is that no one is being notified of comments, not on your 'my home' page (fixed now it would seem) or in your email. So it isn't that no one likes you........they are probably commenting, you'll just have to go check it out.

*Some people are having issues with multiple posts and comments. That will happen if you hit the submit button more than once.

Again, sorry and we hope to have it all sorted out soon. My advice is to watch the Final Four and take a break!!!

Well, there is also the kicking out of logging in going on and the weekend as usual slowdown of the network. Can we do something about the snail pace of AR on the weekends? That is the best time to catch on on commenting but very frustrating when I have to wait a few minutes for each comment to load.

we are working with all hands on deck to make the performance issues disappear. Hopefully the rats will be more durable than the hamsters!

I haven't experienced the weekend issues that Katerina has experienced. But maybe these so called hamsters or even the rats should be injected with steroids. Or how about making bionic hamsters.... lol

I made an edit to the post in hopes of addressing that issue. When the site gets really slow, if you hit the submit button more than once, you will get duplicates of comments or posts......

It's just a devious plot so we can't finish our posts in time for the deadlines! Will there be mercy? Will deadlines extend another day? I love that hamster picture of Jeff's.

Can't you find any 'cockroach run' servers...they live weeks after their heads are cut off... When I prayed for patience, I would learn it in a long supermarket checkout line, a major bumper to bumper traffic jam, or on a phone call trying to obtain a mortgage payoff...now, I just log onto Active Rain!!! Ok, if you want power, I have a friend with an engine that can do it for you. You can replace a LOT of hamsters... It does burn about $500 of fuel in a 5 second pass... and needs a LOT of maintenance... but it has power... LOTS OF POWER.

AR has given me so much that the little problems occasionally are just tiny bleeps on the radar. I'd have to admit I've been surprised at my reaction when my points haven't shown up!! WHAT IS THAT ABOUT?? Just takes a few seconds to put things back in perspective! Thanks AR for all you have given me.

I didn't notice anything because I don't expect any comments..................I support the Fran's cockroach theory on the server issues.....wish I could figure out how to get them to get a real estate license........

You inspired a blog post: Surviving ActiveRain Technical Difficulties on a day when I hadn't intended to write one. If you think this is hi-jacking your blog, just delete my comment. I won't take offense. Thought I'd provide some alternatives for frustrated rainers to help keep them busy while you work out the difficulties.

I didn't get to blog yesterday. :-( I was busy showing houses and gathering info for clients until 9:30 last night - it's a good thing. :-( However..... today the problem you mention seems to continue... I can verify that I commented by seeing my POINTS SUMMARY page. But my HOME page shows nothing, nada, zip! Could it be that the rats fell off the treadmill?

The above notice appeared yesterday on a home page I had tried to send an email that would not go. I have a full copy of the page if needed

System still appears very slow... very sick.

Rats are also better suited to the I.T. World. They have larger "paws" and can input via the keyboard much faster thus keeping downtime to a minimum! Great decision to go with the Rats.

Rats are famously disloyal when a bigger name is on the other line. Check their caller ID for Google.

I was wondering what was up...my homepage had 2 comments that I had made seemed like ages ago, and nothing since :) Heck I thought I had just lost my mind and to make matters worse......

I invited a new person who was so frustrated....and we kept emailing back and forth (off AR) to get her up and running....I checked last night 0 points :( Hope she doesn't leave before this is fixed.....makes us look bad.

YOU work too hard.....the final 4 was yesterday and Monday... so I am going outside, our first gorgeous day in Akron, Ohio in a long time, short sleeves, hoo ray!!!!!!!

Also there seems to be a problem with the tracking of comments and posts. Have not been able to determine if this is fixed yet or not. The Active Rain boys and girls do a very good job.

I haven't had a problem with my comment notifications. I have the e-mail part disabled, but they're on my home page.

I have the opposite problem with the email notifications...The inability to turn them off! I go and uncheck the box as instructed, but the emails keep coming.

It seams to be working OK for me.

Although I did have to go back and delete nearly 70 duplicate posts from the Q&A section.

There is still a lot of duplicate posts in the Referral Section as-well, but every thing else seams to be working.

Thanks for staying on top of things and keeping the whole site running as smooth as you can keep it.

Just back space on a letter...Re-type the letter and uncheck the box.

To Those We Cannot Do Without...I am watching the final four but I couldn't stay away from Active Rain.

In fact it helped me get through the Stanford-UConn game. My oldest went to Stanford and worked in the Athletic Dept. for two years early in his career so he knows Tara who brought her basketball team to his wedding (at the chapel on campus) and reception in 1988.

I get way too emotional when I watch so it helped me to do some reading and commenting to break the tension.

Got to go to the final four in Tennessee in 1990 when Stanford won. These games are great to watch especially when you're rooting for one of the teams and can be their in person.

I'll be active on Active Rain again Tuesday night.

Right now I'm watching LSU and Tenn. Score is 39-39 with 6:19 to go in the second half. Great game.

Ok, I guess you decided not to take advantage of the Top Fuel engine... Nitro-methane is kind of pricey. But, if speed is reflective of power, the pages would come up before you type...

Thanks for letting us know which animals are running things over there. While I spent most of the weekend out of the Rain and in the real world, the time I did spend online was a bit frustrating.

So that is what happened. Those darn hamsters are always causing problems. Perhaps the rats will work together to speed it up again. If that doesn't work I can recommend guinea pigs for ya.

That explains a lot...Unfortunately,I was at work when it was having difficulties, and there is no TV :(

I think that the mouse did not work either as I am still having some engine problems. Scotty, give me all that you got....

I noticed the site was slow, but did not know about rats. Maybe the rat contracted a virus. Beam me up Scotty or you are fired.

Now it makes sense! I was wondering why there were no emails from AR since I checked "notify me of new comments" on a few blogs. It thought it was my email since I had been having some problems. Thanks for taking time out of your weekend Bob to look at it and let us know!
