Carlsbad homes at Heron bayCarlsbad home buyers have lots of choice, varying with price range, age, style, location and even views. The homes at Heron Bay are among the choices for those buyers seeking recent construction with dramatic views.

Carlsbad had become a destination of choice for many buyers, as well as vacationers and those seeking second homes. With terrific beaches, fabulous weather year-round, plenty of shopping and restaurants, and some well known tourist attractions (e.g., Legoland, The Flower Fields), Carlsbad appeals to a diverse population. Located about 30 miles from San Diego and 100 miles south of Los Angeles, residents can enjoy big city life if they chooses, as well as the more relaxed beach living found in this popular North San Diego County seaside town. Carlsbad offers a multitude of things to do year-round, much of which takes place outdoors. Those seeking the Southern California lifestyle will appreciate our moderate weather, even in the winter, the fine beaches for walking, swimming, surfing and enjoying sunsets, and 4 golf courses (Aviara at the Four Seasons, the new Crossings at Carlsbad, Rancho Carlsbad, and the La Costa Resort and Spa). Carlsbad is known as a town dedicated to the arts, which includes an excellent art gallery and free jazz concerts in the local parks during the summers. Want to know more?

Tot lot at Heron Bay         Homes at Heron Bay in Carlsbad

Carlsbad continues to grow, with a number of new communities and subdivisions having been built in the last decade or so. Like so many Southern California communities, housing is expensive, but less so here in Carlsbad than in the neighboring beach towns to the south like Encinitas, Cardiff, Solana Beach, Del Mar and La Jolla.

Heron Bay homeAn important thing to know is that Carlsbad has a Smart Growth plan that has been in place for many years in order to control the town’s growth, and to focus on transportation issues, walkability, housing (apartments, affordable homes), maintaining open space for all to enjoy, and managing development to avoid over-building.

Carlsbad homes at Heron Bay offer wonderful views of the hills, the Aqua Hedionda Lagoon, and the distant ocean. Surrounded by protected habitat conservation space, this undated community of homes was built in 2004 on the hills to the east of the lagoon off Cannon Road. Homes rangee in size from about 2800 SF up to a little over 3500 SF, with 4 or 5 bedrooms and 3 to 4.5 baths.

Currently there are 6 Carlsbad homes for sale in Heron Bay, ranging in price from $899,900 to $1,294,876 (sizes range from 2856 SF up to 3531 SF, with 4 or 5 baths and 3 to 4.5 baths). Children in the community attend the Carlsbad Schools. Residents pay modest HOA fees of around $110 and Mello Roos that are under $1000 annually.

Jeff that looks like a beautiful community.  The weather started to heat up around here today, we almost hit 60!!!  Can't wait until the trees start turning green.

Another great post on another wonderful community in your Carlsbad area.  I did't realize Legoland was there.  You truly have so much to offer any buyer!  The flower fields must be beautiful right now.

Jeff,

I always enjoy hearing about Carlsbad.  Years ago, we almost bought a home there but that was when it was a sleepy little town.  It sure has changed!

Jeff:

Carlsbad looks incredible. This is a great localism post as well as informational for those of us who may not be as familiar with the area.

George - thank for the nice compliment. Yep, you gus must be exicted about the improving weather. IT won;t be long now.

Diane - yep, and it is very popular. I am ashamed to say I have NOT been there yet.  No visitors with kids yet so have not had a good reason. But it's on the list. And, yes, the Flower Fields are spectacular. You can see them welll even cruising by on the freeway.

Diane B - yes, Carlsbad has grown up and become one of the more popular beach towns in San Diego. I love being here. So comeo on out - we'll find you the prefect home.

Thanks, Alan. There are so many different options for folks who want to live here, no matter what stage of life they are in, and a pretty broad range of prices, too.

Jeff
