BETTER THAN A POKE IN THE EYE WITH A SHARP STICK.
Some times when you get less than what you expect you just have to say: Well, It's better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick!".
This is my backhanded thank you to Sun Country Airlines for their "gift" to me and my family. First a very serious BIG THANK YOU to the flight crew that safely emergency landed our plane with NO navigation equipment. I also want to thank Sun Country and the 2nd crew they sent to rescue us (from OK City) close to midnight.
I understand that sometimes things just fail, like the navigation equipment on our 737. I understand that maybe it could not have been avoided. What could have been avoided was the little lies that made waiting even more disappointing as we sat where we didn't want to be with friends and relitives waiting for us where we were supposed to be. Lies like "We will be just a few minutes".
And then there is the "It's Better Than A Poke In The Eye" moments... yup, two of them.
#1) "You will be treated to a free breakfast" when you board the new plane that will take you to your desired destination. Once on board it was anounced "You will all receive a granola bar and juice". Whoopie! Then we were give a fruit bar instead. Of course the stranger next to me was allergic to the fruit bar and when the person next to her open hers the gal next to me had an immeadite reaction and needed immeadiate attention. Of course I didn't even get to open mine.
#2) Each of you will be given a $100.00 Sun Country voucher when you call this 800 # and request it. OK, this is my 1st flight in 14 years so I'm sure I will use that real soon.
A sincere thank you to the two crews that served us and to the airport persons that unexpectedly hosted us in OK City. I also wanted to say a special thank you to the police at the airport that were very friendly as I spent about 20 minutes visiting with them about what an oil boom does to a community.
