Time is running out. You can still get those calls made and posts written. Come on, join in the fun.

The New Year is a time to reconnect and connect and make new friendships. Our January Challenge will enable you to do just that and of course it will involve welcoming new members of the Rain. 

Here are the rules and to earn the bonus points you have to follow them all or it won't count. You may write up to five posts but can choose to write only 1, 2, 3, 4 or all 5. Got it?

• Contact by telephone an ActiveRain Member you have never spoken with before. This is the Ringing part of the Challenge. You have to reach the person and have a conversation on the telephone. Leaving voicemail will not count as a contact. If they call you back you will get credit for the call if you connect on the callback or even if it takes several callbacks. I understand we are busy so it may take a few calls back and forth to connect so I recommend setting up the call time through email or text to save some time and possible frustration.
  
  
• After you have connected then chat and find out more about the person and share it in a blog post. This is the Singing part. Do not pitch your services.  It is more about them than you. This is to get to know one another better not to put someone under pressure to use you or make them feel uncomfortable. In your post tell why you decided to call this person and something you learned about them. Only the original caller gets credit for this post. The receiver of the call does not get to count this call as a call for the contest.

This is a great way to meet Newbies or those other Members you have admired or read their blog for years. By writing your post about the phone call, you will be fulfilling the Singing in the Rain part and will earn 500 bonus points for the post which will be awarded after the contest ends. Give Kerrie a few extra days after the first of the next month to get points posted.

There is one exception and one exception only to the rules of the contest. You may call someone that you have spoken with before only if that person has not written a blog post in ActiveRain in the last 90 days. In your conversation find out what they have been up to and encourage them to come back into ActiveRain and write a post. Let them know they have been missed.

Yes, several people may end up calling the same person and that is okay as long as you haven't spoken before with that person with the one exception above.

So if time gets away from you and you only have time to Ring up one Member that is okay. If you then also Sing about them in the Rain you will earn 500 points for your blog post. If you feel like calling two Members, do two and so on up to five entries. So after you have connected by telephone with five different Members in the Rain to get the bonus points you must write about each one in separate posts. You can earn up to a total of 2500 bonus points.
