We have told you before you must get pre-approved, that is step one, but what comes after that?

  1. Once you know how much you are approved for, you can decide how much you can afford, and how much you want to spend on your home.
  2. Be realistic about your budget, crunch the numbers, and make room for repairs and maintenance on your home. Don’t let surprises, like a garage door repair, or water heater dying on you mess up your finances!
  3. Make a list of all of your must haves, MUST HAVES, not wants. These are the things that if the home doesn’t have (or can’t be added/accommodated) you won’t even bother looking at the home. Best example for this is number of bathrooms and bedrooms.
  4. After that, you can make a list of your wants, and place them in order of importance. This will help you as you narrow down your choices. You will be able to keep in mind what was most important to you.
