Wow, one of my favorite Hollywood Stars has died.  What a phenomenal character is was. We've watched him in so many movies for so many years it feels like we've lost a grandpa.  It is a sad day indeed.  It is a blessing for him and his family that he didn't live on with Alzheimer's.  He died at 84.  Click here for his biography

His break through movie was "The Greatest Show on Earth:

I think I'll sit and watch old CHARLTON HESTON Movies all day, But  I won't forget the popcorn...

I really was shocked to see the news of his passing.  Now that was a Movie Star!  And he was still cool in his 80's.  It's a very sad day for his millions of fans.  Bless you Charlton Heston and Thank You!

Dorene, what a great tribute to a truly special actor. Did you do all of that from memory?? It's a credit to his abilities because many people after they were cast as Moses would probably be associated with that role forever.

Charlton Heston is truly a great actor. He will be missed by many of his movie fans. My favorites were The Ten Commandments, Ben HurEl Cid and The Greatest Show on Earth.

Great Post and a tribute to his memory. Thanks.

Hi Dorene.  I have watched the ten commandments probably 10 times.  Movies seemed so BIG then.

We were just watching Planet Of The Apes the other night and my wife remarked "is he still alive", I said oh yeah he is...although he is suffering from ALZ.   That was just Friday night...He had not been very public since 2002 when he was diagnosed with ALZ.

Did you do all that research or is that a reprint from IMDB? If it's a reprint, I'd suggest crediting the source! :)

Hollywood lost an icon today.  He definitely left the industry a better place than it was before he came into it.

I actually saw him at the Four Season in Los Colinas in Irving, Tx one time.  His hands were turned in pretty bad. But he looked just like he does on TV.

I loved the fact that he was a maverick.  He said what he thought without regard to someone being offended.  He took political positions that were unpopular in Hollywood.  He even stood up to Clinton.  Regardless of my views of things, he was a man among men.

Cindy - How long ago was that?  We see Clint Eastwood from time to time when we go to the Carmel area an he is GOOD LOOKING.  It doesn't matter how old he gets.  Even pictures I see of Robert Redford.  These three guys have pizazz!

Guy - He was a Maverick.  I agree with your point about taking sides that are unpopular.  I think we should all care a little less of others opinions and whether someone is offended.  Walking on eggshells hurts the feet!
