South Pasadena CA Petal Pushers And
The So Pas Rose Parade Float 2015
Another visit to a location just behind the South Pasadena War Memorial Building revealed more progress on the city’s self-built float entry for the 126th Annual Tournament of Roses Parade on Thursday, January 1, 2015. South Pasadena has the oldest self-built float in the parade(and one of only seven self-built floats in the parade out of 41 entries this year).
As I have written previously, the all-volunteer effort by South Pasadena(locally known as South Pas and not a part of the city of Pasadena) is just another effort by the city known for its small town appeal.
This year’s float is entitled “Still Winning” and is a part of the overall parade them “Inspiring Stories”.
South Pasadena’s entry was chosen as part of a city-wide contest and is a salute to the Los Angeles Pink Dragons -- an all-women group of breast cancer survivors who have successfully competed in dragon boat racing. The float will proudly feature members of the team.
On Monday, flowers were being put in vials with water(for preservation) that will be placed on the float for the five-and-one-half mile journey down Colorado Boulevard.
