Virginia Wine Regions Recognized in Forbes Magazine
We were thrilled to find out that Forbes Magazine put the spotlight on our own special community in a February, 2014 article on wine regions worth exploring. We couldn’t agree more that Virginia is a true wine-lovers destination, and Smith Mountain Lake’s local wineries are at the top of the bunch.
Smith Mountain Lake is known for a dynamic, attractive golfing experience but what makes it even more appealing is its attention to young, developing golfers. In this blog from May, 2014, we shared our excitement over a new practice facility at one of our community’s greatest attractions, the W.E. Skelton 4-H Educational Conference center. What an excellent addition to an already high-powered golf scene.
Innovative Education Highlights Smith Mountain Lake Schools
It’s easy to see that water recreation, gorgeous natural scenery, friendly people and plentiful attractions are some of the greatest benefits to living at Smith Mountain Lake. But what you may not know is that our schools and educational programs are equally as superb. Last August, just before the start of the fall school semester, we provided a brief overview of Franklin County’s Gereau Center - a top quality learning center that can rival those of any large cities.
Making Melodies at Smith Mountain Lake
Another best-kept secret about Smith Mountain Lake is how many renown musical acts are brought to the area. Thanks to the Smith Mountain Arts Council, this community gets to see musicians from all types of genres play at our local venues. In October we let the secret out about how this special treat is a common part of life at SML.
