I love spring, I mean, love spring! The sun comes out, yet it isn't too hot to do things at 3pm. The rains that are associated with the Pacific Northwest winters disappear, and the beauty that all that rain promises, starts to bloom. This is also where I start to die, for you those of you who have allergies, you know what I mean. The noses starts to run, the eyes start to itch, but you just can't help going out in it. You have too!

Then at the same time of year, baseball starts up and we get to go to the season opener of the Portland Beavers. Last night they won over Fresno 8-4. As the baseball season starts, so does the little league for my kids and also my time for coaching. I truly love coaching kids in little league, building confidence and friendships that last a life time.

You can again start to walk in the parks that are no longer flooded and lose that winter weight that I always seem to put on every year. Families are seen playing baseball, basketball and tennis in the parks again. People start to come out on their bikes and walk their dogs. Everybody that felt tied up all winter long is all of a sudden set free with the changing of the calendar to spring.

Buyer's that didn't want to buy during the winter holidays are out, as well as the sellers that didn't want all that traffic in their home during Christmas and New Year. Everybody just seems happier. Maybe it's because I have that extra bounce in my step as I pass someone and smile. They always seem to smile back come spring.

So, spring please don't pass as quickly this year as you seem to have done in the past, I would love to have you hang around a little longer than usual. You are pretty good company!

Todd, DC is absolutely gorgeous this time of year.  I had planned to take the day off and do cherry blossom, but it's about to pour rain!

Todd,  Mesquite is a desert, we don't even think about rain, but spring is still noticeable here.  A week ago, it was looking pretty desert-ish.  Yesterday - wildflowers all over the desert were suddenly in bloom - all different kinds and colors at once with a fine carpet of green all over the rough landscape - beautiful!  The desert cactus will soon bloom for just a few weeks, after that it is 4 months of HOT and DRY.

Todd - as I live and breathe, you expressed my exact thoughts about spring. A Canadian spring is long in coming, and the snow that has fallen over the past 2 days here in St. Albert leaves me hoping that the thaw will soon hit, the buds will appear and I'll be back outside tending my garden. It's a season of activity and I can't wait for it to finally arrive... as I rub my itchy eyes.

Todd,
I love Spring too, the flowers blooming, the bees buzzing and most of all the warm weather!  I always say it's my favorite time of year.....then in the Fall, I think that's my favorite.  Guess I'm a little fickle.

Todd - Thanks for sharing the photos.  I can feel it Spring is just around the corner - I'm trying to be patient but dusting of snow we saw this morning is wearing my patience thin.  Have a great 2008.

Todd, Spring does seem to be one season that passes fairly quickly...contract to "endless summer."  It is a wonderful time of year in so many ways.  I always love the appearance of spring flowers; they bring such a lift to what might otherwise be a drab time of the year.

Patricia - What is wrong with the rain, that is what makes the trees and flowers look pretty. Go out and enjoy!

Virginia - I've had a cactus for 11 years and just a couple days ago it came down with something and is now dying. Really kind of sad!

Gabriele - I just had to go buy more eye drops just so I could go outside again. My eyes swelled shut the other day.

Fran - Enlightened? Is that a sun joke at Oregon's expense? (LOL)

Kathy - Chickenpox? How bad where your springs?

Tom - I do enjoy it, but it really is a love / hate thing with allergies.

Joan - They weren't blood shot and swelling shut? Mine are. (LOL)

Danny - Is that where they left you or is that by choice to be out in those flowers?

Cynthia - I like the fall a lot! I miss baseball, but rarely have allergy problems in the fall.

Lynn - We are certainly done with the snow here and now is the time to play baseball and prepare for summer!

Debra - How cool, I'm not sure I would like washing my car every 3 hours but fun to watch. (LOL)

Lola - It does go by so fast! I don't know why, maybe it is because I'm so busy with baseball and real estate that I just lose track of time.

Sally - I wish I could capture the little league feel that spring shows in my teams. Now that would be a post, but I've tried, their is just something about watching it live and the feel from these little kids that doesn't translate to video.
