Pasadena CA 2015 Tournament of Roses Post Parade Showcase of Floats
On Friday, January 2, 2015 I visited the 2015 Pasadena Tournament of Roses(Rose Parade) Showcase of Floats. Held each year after the Rose Parade, this was day two of a three day event that gathers all of the floats in one place for people to look, admire and take photos. This year was the 126th annual Rose Parade and the weather was a little cooler than usual - but not a record low - today was picture perfect in my opinion.
The total walking distance to see the floats is approximately two miles. At each float there are either Tournament of Roses officials(you’ll notice them in their white suits) or volunteers who have worked on the floats with information about each float, the flowers and natural materials used as well as some history.
You still have one more day -- Saturday, January 3, 2015 from 9AM until 5PM. Ticket sales stop at 3PM. You should allocate about two hours to see all floats.
Located adjacent to Victory Park and Pasadena High School in Northeast Pasadena -- near Washington and Sierra Madre boulevards. Open tomorrow, Saturday, January 3, 2015 9AM until 5PM, $10.00 fee for everyone over five years of age. Special early opening hours for seniors and handicapped visitors begin at 7AM.
Some street parking is available but I suggest parking at one of the lots at Norma Coombs Alternative School or Pasadena High School or better yet a shuttle from the Gold Line light rail station at Sierra Madre Villa, Pasadena City College(PCC - 1570 East Colorado Boulevard) or the PCC Community Education Center(3035 East Foothill Boulevard). Fare for a round trip ticket is $3.00.
