Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories Inc., of Pullman, Wash., announced today that it plans to hire more than 300 employees this year as it continues its expansion worldwide. Ed Schweitzer, the company's founder and president, says many of those new employees will be added in Pullman. More than 100 positions currently are listed on the company's Web site, and the other 200 openings will be posted over the next two quarters, the company says. The openings will be for engineers of various types, along with technicians, administrative positions, and manufacturing, flight-department, and SEL University personnel. SEL University is an educational customer-support program the company offers. Schweitzer makes electrical-system protection, monitoring, and control equipment and currently employs more than 1,500 people in 64 locations around the world, with more than 1,000 of them in Pullman, and sells products in 120 countries.
