Another Typical Sunday

Sundays are usually a lazy day enjoying nature and getting abite out for lunch. Once that is completed, we sit in front of the TV, watch movings from Blockbuster, and I get my blogging in for the week.

Living in Florida along the Gulf Coast can be very relaxing and a dream come true.....at least until the "Sunshine Tax" hits you. Sunshine Tax? What is that you say? The Sunshine Tax is what many Floridians call the "cost of living" in a resort area ...... IT AIN'T CHEAP!!!

For example, Pilar and I ate at one of my Favorite Restaurants, Doc's Beach House. Doc's is a very relaxed restaurant which sits DIRECTLY on Bonita Beach. You have three choises for sitting (mother nature permitting). They have a ground level inside seating, an elevated (second floor) restaurant which serves alcohol and is totally surrounded by sliding glass windows, OR you can pick a table which is outside ON the beach. Today, because the weather was beautiful, we picked the table on the beach.

Now, back to the "Sunshine Tax' ..... Pilar and I ate 3 hotdogs, 1 coke, and an order of fried zuchini. The total cost was roughly $22.00.  If I had stayed at home it would have been about $3.00. Although, at home I would not have had as wonderful a view nor as good a time.

Doc's is a very relaxing place to hang out. You can have breakfast, lunch, dinner or just order drinks..... whatever you like and enjoy the views of the Gulf of Mexico and Bonita Beach. One warning ..... Be sure to bring CASH because they do not take credit cards or cash.

Doc's has the best fried shrimp in town. I go down occasionally just to have the basket.  A lot of people like the pizza too.  Ca$h only. :)

Sounds like ballpark prices for those dogs. At least you had the view and nice weather to enjoy. It was overcast, chilly, and damp here today - not ideal conditions for an Open House - and the turnout reflected that. Would have rather been at Doc's with you and Pilar! Maybe next time!

Sean - next winter while you are sitting with your feet up overlooking the Gulf wearing your shirts and t-shirt in January in 80 degrees, remember our northern cousins in the middle of a -15 ice storm. I'm happy to pay the sunshine tax! :)
