Several people asked me why sponsor the Blog Jumpstart Challenge annually?
My answer is simple: To share the MAGIC CULTURE that is ActiveRain ...
How can AR maintain its culture in the future facing ownership changes?
How can AR benefit others the way it has benefitted all of us?
BY REMEMBERING THE PHILOSOPHY THAT IS
ACTIVERAIN's FOUNDATION
What are the legs that support the AR Community?
The Founders of ActiveRain started with their Weltanschauung (comprehensive world view) for the Community. As the first leg, the Weltanschauung forms the basis of
everything else. The Weltanschauung is the broad, philosophical view.
The second leg is the set of Community Guidelines which take philosophy to specifics – the nuts and bolts. In the Community Guidelines, we find suggestions for our everyday behavior online at AR and online elsewhere.
The third leg that supports ActiveRain is YOU – the individual member. All the philosophy and all the guidelines in the world would not be of value unless each of you were adding yourself into the mix.
So, that brings us to the "structure" of the BIG Blog Jumpstart. When folks join ActiveRain, they are asked to read the Weltanschuung and read the Community Guidelines. Do new members do that?
Revisiting both the Weltanschuung and the Community Guidelines is beneficial after a bit of time in the ’Rain. The ideas may make more sense after a person has been involved inside the AR Community.
EACH YEAR, as part of the BIG Blog Jumpstart Challenge, every participant is asked to explore both the Weltanschuung and the Community Guidelines , choosing from each one a special aspect for a Blog post.
A SERENDIPITY occurred in 2015 for both the 2015 4th Annual Jumpstart and Debbie Reynolds' Ringing and Singing Challenge. Although unplanned this year, the two Challenges turned out to be a perfect fit with AR Community Guidelines and with the Weltanschauung (#10). We encourage everyone to use their entries to Debbie's Challenge as entries to the 2015 BIG Blog Jumpstart.
Do people participate for the extra points? This year that would be a grand idea! Combining the RINGING & SINGING Challenge with the Jumpstart, an AR Blogger could earn over 4500 points in just a few weeks!!!
