Do What you LOVE and LOVE what you Do! By Feng Shui Long Island

By
Home Stager with Feng Shui Manhattan Long Island #888

Sometimes I feel like I'm doing the same thing over and over and not making any headway.  Nothing seems to change, my business doesn't seem affected by the changes I am putting into it (not to mention the work or the ENERGY) and I feel like kicking back and stopping for awhile. Am I supposed to be slowing down or reving up....or is that more of a question on whether you LOVE what you do?

Feel like it....but don't.  It is funny how I see how my Persistence pays off later, long after I believe it's not working or that I should be trying something new and scrapping the old ideas.  With posting on AR and being busy, I have all but given up my articles.  Yet they are still on the net, floating around and some are on some pretty wonderful sites---and are still being found.  And after all this time I am still getting contacts from them.

I recently have been thinking about another website; goodness knows I have enough domain names and some of them are pretty good.  Except that I am doing well now especially since I have put more time and energy into my old one, having it come up in places it didn't come up before.  So am I spinning my wheels?  I LOVE what I do but when am I doing enough?

Its fine to try new things and see the reaction to them but you may not know the outcome of a new "venture" for your business in the first few months.  Or perhaps longer.  I'm glad I've never been the type of person that gives up easily....as a matter of fact, I am just the opposite.  Someone tells me I CAN'T do something for one reason or another and it will make me try harder-maybe just to prove them wrong.  I guess I have that stubborn streak after all; which may have done well for me in this particular business.  I certainly wouldn't have survived in it without perseverance.

Tony Robbins

The markets are difficult right now all over.  But I am not reading on AR about Realtors leaving their fields....they also love what they do and will stick It out; using the "tried and true" and some new methods that just might work down the line.   Isn't it the people that truly stick it out that really "make it?"  I can think of a few people off the top of my head that have real persistence---and won't let anything stop them; They LOVE what they do!  And if you've got that love, I believe it's a real attribute.

Hi Carol, I'm one of those Realtors that loves their job. I can't imagine doing anything other than this. I have more referrals than I ever did, my phone rings daily with new opportunities and clients. I spent all of the past year setting up my system to carry me when times are bad. I haven't been doing floor time at the office or open houses either. That used to be the only way I picked up new clients. Now it's so much more relaxing and fun. AR is a big part of my change in thinking and planning.

Hi Carole, I believe you can't sit around to watch the seeds you just planted. Plant your seeds and keep it moving. Eventually down the road those old seeds will begin to sprout.

Carole, This video put everything we know (and always forget about) in perfect order... By the way I smiled at : "my mother pushed me" because it just happening to me. At the bottom line we need to persist, survive and keep moving ahead.

I too have struggled in the beginning and stuck it out by doing the one thing I would feel secure with....working part time for my office as well as full time agent. It works out for all and I am doing what my brokers and I believed I would do well at.....Real Estate....

good morning Carole,

What a lovely inspirational post to read first thing this morning. Just the thing to cause me to reflect on how much I love what I do in taking part as people go through transitions in their lives. Their gentle and far-away smiles, right at the time when they see a dream beginning to take shape in a home we've just entered, spur me on and often make me feel like we are all wrapped up in a plan that is unfolding on it's own as we speak.

thanks, for being you, and writing these soul-stirring posts you write,

Jo

Hey Carole ~~ So inspiring!  We all have self-doubts, we are human. We all question whether the current path is the right one. The key is staying the course.  Changing direction frequently doesn't allow time for seeds to grow, mature and bear fruit.

I will share this video with my daughter and her friends.  They needs to hear this message over and over.

Thanks for sharing!

Carole:  Persistance and patience will certainly have its payoff.  But I also think stepping back and taking a break has great rewards as well.  Stay the course and I keep doing those things that have proven to work for me and discard those things that do not.  I am ever searching for new things to try which is one reason being a Realtor is so interesting.  I frequently attend real estate classes whether I need them or not just for new and fresh ideas.  Feng Shui is your passion as real estate is mine so it's a labor of love but one I look forward to each and every day.  The real estate market has shifted and so we have to shift with it.  In the words of a great instructor and real estate expert, Tom Gillett says, "shift happens"!

Lisa, I started to write about persistance but I, too, resonated with Passion.  You never give up when you love something!

Kathy, Maybe that stubborn streak we seem to have inherited did us good after all...I absolutely hate it when someone tells me I CAN'T do something....and always at least try.

Ray, Thank you, I am.  But I always remember what a difficult field I chose...and glad I had at least some of those qualities to get me through it.

Kathleen, I love that story, I would have loved to be there for that!  Please let us know how everything went, there is nothing better then happy endings.

Fernando, I have a feeling you'll do just wonderful for the week...and the year.  I enjoyed the video too, though.

Lizette, AR has helped many of us with work and friends but I always wonder if you really have the DRIVE you need without the PASSION.  I know I need both to succeed.....and believe many of us do.

Eugene, I do, sometimes, take "down" time.  When I've worked very hard on a few projects and need to balance.  And the seeds do grow :)  Thank you for your comment.

Hi Fred, I am SO glad I never gave up, I can't tell you how many times I almost did.  Thank goodness there was something pushing me :)!

Arina, My mother didn't push me and she never dissuaded me....she was wonderful in allowing me to do my own thing and find my own way.  I have to laugh at Donald Trump, he never gives up---NEVER.  Right now he is suing New York State over his new restaurant at Jones Beach---

Sally, Your passion for what you do always comes through.  In your localism posts AND your clients.  And we DO stick to something we love.

Missy, It was a good video, I was surprised to find it myself :)  One of the reasons I didn't sign onto YouTube for so long was that I knew I'd get lost there for hours (:

Cynthia, I think we have all those things anyway, we just don't realize them...we all do what we love and keep at it...It's sad to me that I've heard of so many realtors leaving.....

Jo, I miss seeing those looks when someone first enters "their" home but I DO see the ones where they see the possibilities--and a world opens up to them.  I would absolutely LOVE to see someone's eyes light up when they see their home for the very first time.

Marzena, I sent it to my daughter as well....to remember her patience in what she does.  Most of the time she has it but I've noticed how hard she is on herself....

Donna, I love it, "Shift definitely DOES happen" and we need to go with the Shift (a bit changed from my Go With the Flow saying)....but I guess you really need both, passion and staying the course.  And I step back too at times, we all need a balance to play!

Thanks for sharing the video. A lot of good points to help you be successful. What sticks out to me is the persevere to failure but especially the service and giving back. I truly believe that positive, good deeds and action bring those same back to you; you get back what you put out there.

Carole, I think that a passion for what we do is the only true indicator of making it through good markets and bad- without the experience of both, it's never quite a full depth of experience!  Feng Shui is gaining momentum, and you're at the top of the wave.

Rich, I believe you're absolutely right, you get back exactly what you give out in one way or aother.  I try to be VERY mindful of what I say and do....

Laurie, I am so blessed it hasn't slowed down---I'm very grateful considering the market and what I thought might happen.  I believe so many people have seen and resonate with The Secret they have finally realized more about Feng Shui.

Jeff &  Grace, No problem, I love to save people money :)  It was a good video and I think many of us can use that word in our lives, it seems to fit!

Joan, I have dusted off more than anyone I know!  Klutz might be my middle name...or choosing a profession many people haven't heard of.  I am not particularly fond of Donald Trump either but I have to say that man NEVER, EVER gives up and I do admire that trait.

Carole ~ We do have one thing in common! When someone tells me that I cant do something, that usually  fuels me to do it! and succeed at it!
