Dealing With Loss….A Coffee Chat at the Crow River Senior Center

Another area of service in addition to help to publicize useful things like this is being a hospice volunteer.  The training program I had here was very good and makes one a better visitor for anyone needing comfort - aging or medical, whether or not they're officially in hospice.   Volunteers without any medical background can still visit - listen, read, give caregivers a break.

We have lost a lot of great people around here lately.  I know that in winter that tends to happen to more elderly people, but I am almost out of sympathy cards already.  I hope that people will attend this, I might even go!

Ron senior centers are such great people to spend time for many reasons. Dealing with a loss is a big one.  Awesome post about yet another great service in the St Michael MN area.

Hi Folks, Grieve counseling is a really important process as many folks do need help to get past a loss of life. Some folks are probably lonely and would benefit going to the Senior center just to have human contact. I hope you folks are having an excellent weekend. 

This will be so helpful to so many people.  What a great resource!

 I took a course about this in college I believe if I  remember there are 7 stages of grief.

When I was in my 20s and early 30s, I lost 9 close family members in an equal number of years.  My emotions were all over the place.  Shock, Anger, and Devastating Sadness.  I kept looking for closure that didn't exist.  One of the things I learned is the process of grieving can differ in the amount of time for each of us.  It's important to be patient with yourself if it seems to be taking longer than you originally thought it would.

Hi Ron - grieving is so personal and each of us has to decide what will work best for us.  For those who need assistance with the process, this Crow River Senior Center opportunity may work for them.

I agree with Michael Jacobs  - greiving is so personal, but often people don't have family or friends to help them and may need help.  I hope that your shout out is heard by many and those who are seeking help find it.  Thank you Ron.

Ron, many times people need someone they can talk about their grieving outside of their loved ones , and this group has something to offer everyone in the various stages of the grieving process.
