The Denver Botanic Gardens feature a variety of gardens from all over the world. Many are best grown in Denver due to the high altitude and the nature of temperature swings. There are gardens that are planted to show "drought-tolerant" and another focused on European horticulture.
The gardens were first dedicated in 1954 at City Park, but the "night diggers" were uncontrollable in the unfenced area. In 1958 the Botanic Gardens were moved to the current location at 9th & York.
