Don't worry about culture - we have that too! You are just a short walk to the Round House Theater and the Children's Imagination Stage! The library is two blocks in another direction.
Our biggest big box store is the endangered Barnes and Noble - which everyone loves and prays will survive. Otherwise, Bethesda is defined by small stores like Francesca's, Dry Bar, McLaughlin's, Blue Mercury, and LeCreuset. We have an Apple Store and a Lululemon, but even our chain stores tend to be small scale.
