It has been a fascinating day. I found out about a partnership between the YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region, Centura Health and local community providers. It is leading edge "wellness" and YMCA's across the country and coming in to get more details.
As we are all aware health care, both in terms of health insurance and practical application has changed and continues to change. The Colorado Springs based partnership brought in an addition to Penrose Hospital called the Tri-Lakes Health Pavilion and connected it to the YMCA in Monument Colorado. The purpose is a place where people can focus on healthy living and specifically wellness.
The new Tri Lakes Health Pavilion is the reason YMCA's around the country are coming in. What they are evaluating is this new approach that combines professional wellness and first class health care. Imagine a place where your personal trainer and your health care provider (yes, formerly known as "Doctor") work together in evaluating and tracking your progress for a new work out, diet plan or lifestyle change. The difference here is their motto "You start well and stay well"'.
With the Tri Lakes Health Pavilion and the YMCA partnership you have Child Watch services available during your visit or enjoy lunch at the atrium cafe where serving healthy food options is the mandate.
Imagine a place where health and wellness services include:
- Youth Development programs through sports including (swimming, soccer, basketball, ballet, flag football and volleyball.
- Healthy Living Programs that include personal training, group training, swimming, basketball, aerobics, yoga/Pilates, cycling, Tai Chi, Trifecta training and more.
- Social Responsibility programs offer military outreach, social services, global services, volunteering and advocacy.
- Don't forget that medical services are a part of the wellness which include primary care, lab services, occupational health, physical therapy and weight management.
There may be a lot of things you don't like about health care but the Colorado Springs partnership between Centura Health and the Pikes Peak YMCA is a new initiative changing the way we think and operate in our lives and in our wellness care.
