This evening I re-read the Active Rain Community Guidelines as I do once a year.
Each time I read them, something new resonates with me. Today it is:
"ActiveRain is built for Community. We built ActiveRain as a place for real estate professionals to network and create a sense of community. This is your community! It is our members that make ActiveRain such a special place."
When I joined Active Rain, back in 2008 I believe, I was looking for a source of learning, to replace the coaching program I had recently finished. I hoped to learn and share ideas about real estate practices, ideas about marketing, ideas to grow my business, ideas about all the new technology and opportunities that were flooding the market.
I wanted to begin blogging as a way of attracting new clients.
These things came to be, and surpassed my wildest dreams.
However, the biggest surprise to me was this Community, the friendships and networking that would result. This is where I turn first when I need advice, when my cup feels empty and I need support. Whether it's meeting up with Kerrie La Guardia or Bob Stewart, or attending a Meet Up organized by Kathleen Daniels or Bryan Robertson, or hosting one myself, strengthening the ties with members here keeps me energized and engaged. I make every effort to attend the Meet Ups, to reach out to other members, to cement those ties made here.
Active Rain is where I turn to find a great referral agent for my clients, and I haven't been disappointed yet. An incoming referral from an Active Rain member is the cherry on top of the ice cream.
I wish I could remember how I stumbled across Active Rain, but I don't. I simply know that the Active Rain Community is truly special and I feel blessed to have become a part of it.
