That’s right golf fans, wake the kids and call the neighbors Tiger Woods is coming to Phoenix to play in the Waste Management Phoenix Open, “The Greatest Show On Grass”, or as one Golf Channel analyst once quipped “the rowdiest golf tournament on planet earth!”

It’s been 14 years since Tiger prowled the fairways and greens of the Tournament Players Club in Scottsdale, Arizona. To quote Tiger from his Twitter account “Starting my year off at Phoenix & Torrey back-to-back weeks. I’m ready to go. Should be a lot of fun”.

The Waste Management Phoenix Open will be played the week of January 26 through February 1, 2015 at TPC Scottsdale. This year’s field of 132 players will compete for a total purse of $6.3 million. First place will take home the trophy, 500 FedEXCup points -- oh yeah -- and $1,134,000 million.

Eldrick Tont "Tiger" Woods last played in the Phoenix Open in 2001, he tied for fifth place. Woods played in the 1999 (3rd place) and 1997 (tied for 18th). His total earnings for those appearance $376,250.

One of the most famous shots in the history of professional golf is Tiger’s 1997 hole in one on the TPC Scottsdale’s par 3 16th hole, and if the WM Phoenix Open is the rowdiest tournament on planet earth then the 16th hole is definitely the rowdiest hole in golf; checkout the video below.

And if you thought you could get through a post without me talking about real estate --- in a somewhat related story Tiger's private island in Sweden is on the market for only $7.1 million. It's listed with Valdi Private Islands.

PS  It would be interesting to see how many people outside of AR click on this ost to read about the event. You can use your post's SHORT URL (http://actvra.in/4vz7 ---created with one click above) to post this information on your social media places. Then when you go to your AR TRAFFIC/STATS report on your home page, you will see how many views you had from AR wth the long URL and how many from the public with the short URL. Fun to see the numbers - right? L.

Hi Nancy - Mr Woods is definitely the most famous and high profile tiger(I think Tony relinquished that GRRR-eaaat title years ago).    Maybe he needs a Winter residence?

Nancy how ironic  things turn out, little bit of attitude with the fans...a car crash...a nasty divorce... millions of dollars losses in endorsement...and then we return to being humble and going  back to your loyal fans and places...just sayin, Endre

on a side note great localism post and I like Michael Jacobs  comment...

Hi Laura Cerrano I don't follow golf religiously but whether Tiger is playing well or not, people will show up to follow him around the course.

You're right on Laura Allen, Lake Tahoe - Truckee Real Estate for Sale www.TahoeLauraLuxuryHomes.com  Tiger puts butts in seats or in this case feet on the course and if he is playing well-----lookout could break an attendance record or two.

Hi William Johnson I'm sure the PGA is hoping Tiger will be playing well, he makes a lot of money for a lot of people.

LOL---Tony still has a sweet and warm place in my heart Michael Jacobs I used to love Frosted Flakes but alas I've given up sugared cereals.

It's been 14 years but the Tiger is coming back Barbara Todaro to the Phoenix Open and I for one am very happy he is.

I'm hoping to get close enough to get a good photo Dorie Dillard

While he's not a real tiger he's a lot bigger in person that I would have guessed he looks more like a body builder than a golfer Sheila Anderson

Yeah, like many of us Tiger has feet of clay Endre Barath, Jr. I assume he learned an expensive but very valuable lesson or two. Michael Jacobs comment did make me laugh, he has a wicked sense of humor.
