I Need Help from St Augustine to Daytona

Many years ago my husband and I drove to Florida on our honeymoon.  We drove from New York to St. Augustine where we stopped to take in the sights.  We had wanted to go to Daytona from there and headed down A1A but we were tired from all the travel and sight seeing.  Daytona seemed to get farther and farther away.  There was nothing along the road back then except the beach on one side of the road and vacant land on the other.

Suddenly, there appeared a little motel on the beach side of the highway back from the road. It was a  two story spanish  courtyard style building complete with tile roof and fountain in the middle, right on the ocean.   The lights were on but there was only one person there, a small latino man with a pencil thin mustache and curly black hair. The place had a 1950's noir movie look about it.

We told him we were on our honeymoon and he put us in a room overlooking the ocean. We were the only quests in the motel.  From the balcony we watched the full moon rise up over the ocean.   I looked over at KC and thought to myself, " We're married now".  That night we had been married for three days.

We left the next day and drove to Daytona and eventually to  Key West.  On our way back we visited Disney World, barely four years open at that time,  so we did not come back up the same highway.

Some years later we visited Florida again, this time from our home in Charlotte, NC.  We drove down A1A but we could not find our little motel.  We came back that way and looked really hard this time, but we could not find our motel.   We decided it had only been there that night, a magic place, just for us.

We have been up and down that road several times since but have never seen our little motel again.  We do not remember the name of it and we have no photos or mementos.  I thought you might be able to help.

In February we will be traveling that way again on our way to the Keller Williams Family Reunion in Orlando.  It is our 40th anniversary. We are taking a few days to enjoy the ocean and hoped to find our magic place again...if indeed it really does  exist.

If you have been around that long or know of the little motel I am referring to it would make our hearts sing if you would let us know.  We are aware it may have changed in 40 years...don't we all, and the area may have built up around it.  It may have been bought and "upgraded" to look very different now or... it may not be there at all.
