Polar Plunge in Watertown CT Sat Jan 17, 2015The Waterbury CT YMCA is sponsoring a Polar Plunge on Saturday Jan 17 at Camp Mataucha, the YMCA Camp in Watertown CT.

 

The plunge will begin at 12:30 PM.  Members are encouraged to register their teams for a minimum of $100 in donations per team.  All entrants must be a minimum of 18 years old.

 

All proceeds will go to the benefit of the Meghan Beebe Scholarship for campers at the YMCA summer camp.

 

As we have been having balmy single digit temperatures, some time will be allowed to chop through a certainly thick ice covering prior to the plunge.

Saturday's temp in Watertown is projected to be in the low 20's but sunny.

 

Camp Mataucha is located at 270 Smith Pond Rd ,  Watertown CT, 06795

 

Applications or donations can be obtained on the YMCA web site

Ed I have a blog in draft that I just have to fine tune a little bit about the Penguin Plunge in Middletown.  These people are nuts, I start shivering just thinking about jumping into an ice cold lake.  Ours is being organized through the Special Olympics.

Joe Petrowsky   i took a polar plunge once s well.  Stepped off a curve into what I thought was a shallow collection of water and went in above the ankles into a pot hole with low shoes.  Carried that water around for hours
