Nobody Likes Being Called a LIAR! Part Deux

By
Property Manager with Gibson Management Group, Ltd.

During January and February, I take the time "refine" my resident handbook that accompanies my leases, my written material * cleaning instructions * as well as my move-in procedure.

My PRIOR move-in procedure including new front door mat (old one to the deck, back entry or garage), water bottles in the refrigerator, new toilet paper rolls on holders, air scent canisters on refrigerator and in the master bedroom closet and NEW clear shower curtain liners and rings on shower rods...these I usually put up while prepping the property for showing as I have a supply in my car and want the fold-lines to smooth out.

Last year FOR THE FIRST TIME, I had a new MALE resident challenge me that the clear shower curtain was NEW...He indicated it was NOT new and that it should have been NEW when they moved in.

I prepped a house for move in on Wednesday and remembered his remark so I think I have solved this problem for future residents....

Rather than taking my time to install these items, I'll just leave them on the bath counter IN THEIR WRAPPERS so that the new residents can install them themselves....and know that they are new.

I did not mind doing them in the past; however, to get chastised over this process is not worth it.....WOO-SAAAA!

Most residents would not expect new shower curtains to be at the property so when the fact that I do install them and it is question that are NEW and not left by the former residents I need to counter that and still have the curtains available...just like the TP

My HORROR is that they are tired and dirty from moving and use the shower without any curtain...YIKES!

I think I might install the new shower curtain but leave the price tag attached.

If folks have to install their own shower curtain, they may not.  Water everywhere isn't a good trade-off.

Or, YIKES!!

What a unique service this is Wallace S. Gibson, CPM , great idea for the rental property manager to consider. There will always be some "bad apples" though.  :)

Wow, one has to challenge a dollar store item, not worth it! Seen good shower curtains at the dollar store.
