Great news for Westfield homeowners. The Raritan Valley Line evening one seat is now open. As of 1/12/15, commuters can travel into NYC non-stop at night.

Moving to the suburbs offers many benefits for homeowners.  Instead of apartment living like you find in the City, you can own a home with four walls of your very own.  You can even have a yard, which is a rarity in New York City.  However, transportation from the Westfield community to work can be a hassle, especially when you have to coordinate train transfers.  Luckily, the Raritan Valley Line evening one seat ride is now open.

Back in March of last year, the very first one seat ride (direct line) into New York City via the Raritan Valley Line launched.  However, it was only available during mid-day off-peak hours.  On Monday, January 12th, passengers on the Raritan Valley Line were able to take one seat rides after 8pm.  This is currently only available in the evenings on weekdays.

Current Raritan Valley Line One Set Ride Schedule:

Inbound Trains (leaving Raritan) - 6:39pm, 7:52pm, 8:49pm and 9:53pm
Outbound Trains (leaving NYC) - 8:48pm, 9:48pm, 10:48pm and 12:01am

Since the Raritan Valley Line evening one seat ride is now open, it makes areas like our Westfield community more attractive to younger home buyers looking for a suburban lifestyle with easy access to urban amenities.  The smaller direct commute time can be quite the selling point.  It can even bring home values up.  In fact, Roselle Park Mayor Carl Hokanson stated that he knew of a Berkeley Heights woman who received $21,000 over her asking price simply because she lived next to the train station.

The next step for the Raritan Valley Line is to get a direct schedule set up closer to 4pm and 8pm travel times.  However, there are current budgetary constraints and scheduling issues to contend with.  The Hudson River Tunnel is already filled to capacity for train travel during the busiest commute times of the day.  So, this could still take a while.  But the Raritan Valley Rail Coalition will continue the good fight.

The Raritan Valley Line evening one seat ride is now open.  This is great news for anyone interested in living in the Westfield area without giving up their employment or amenities that the City has to offer.  It is also great news for those Westfield homeowners wishing to sell their properties soon.  When you are ready to start looking for a luxury Westfield property, contact me.
