I am keeping this blog to update on building a custom Bluestone Home in Rockwall Ranch, near New Braunfels, TX. This is to share the process, learn a few tips, and watch an exquisite home take shape. We are now in week 3 of construction and framing is taking place along with exterior sheath installation.
The large outdoor living area will have a wood burning fireplace to enjoy all year, and a TV mount and cable will be included. The front is still heavily wooded to allow the buyer to determine just what to remove and what to leave in place. IT adds some difficulty bringing supplies up and moving around, but it is also unique in that most builders will remove a large swath of growth to make it easier to build without regard to the environment. Bluestone Homes is different and wants to work with the land, not against it!
The finished home will be 3100 sqaure feet with four bedrooms, the fourth is a real flexible space that has a full bath next to it. The room can be the hobby room, a guest suite, a greenhouse, or whatever you can think of. Being at the back rear of the house it will be close to the kitchen, but still private. The private office at the front of the house is very spacious and will allow for a wonderful view out the window overlooking all the trees. The master suite is spacious and has an oversized bath that is plumbed for a bath if desired, and has an extra large walk in shower and huge closet space.
The living area is the focal point with eight foot wide by seven foot high glass overlooking the patio and back yard. This will be the "money view" when you enter the front door. And with ample space for a future pool, the view can be spectacular.
Here are a few more pics to show off the high quality construction. More 2 x 6 and 2 x 8 boards used than any builder I have worked with, ever! The garage is oversized and will accomodate all but the largest trucks in the neighborhood. The large windows are framed with 2 x 8's so there is a large sill and adds depth to the striking views.
