DOCK AND ROLL DINER http://dockandrolldiner.com
The Dock and Roll Diner is Austin’s first food truck dedicated to the fabulous Lobster Roll. They use only wild caught Maine Lobster. Their food trailers are equipped with fresh, locally sourced ingredients and everything else that is needed to make as they say “the greatest lobster rolls known to man”. They have gone the extra mile to bring us, here in Austin, a unique experience that had only been reserved for those residing in coastal town. Their head chef and general partner, Lee Krassner, became very familiar with the lobster roll after working for years in kitchens in New York and San Francisco. After learning to construct the roll on the East Coast and then recreating it for the West Coast, Chef Lee decided that Austin, his hometown, would appreciate this North Eastern delicacy. Along with longtime friends and native Austinites, Daniel Dennis and Adam Lewis, it was agreed they would bring the lobster rolls to Austin in an affordable and easily accessible way. The Dock & Roll Diner team’s vision is to present not only delicious authentic New England style lobster rolls, but, also to add Chef Lee’s personal spin on it to bring us a number of never before seen variations.
An example of their varied and delicious menu: The Main Event – freshly picked Maine lobster claw and knuckle meat served chilled with their special house mayo, their own Dock salt and chive. Served on a freshly baked split top roll. Another choice is the Massachusetts which adds chopped celery to the Main Event for someone who might like a little crunch to their roll. Want to try something but maybe aren’t a lobster fan? How about the Maine Jonah Crab Roll – crab leg meat tossed with their special secret house dressing, romaine lettuce leaf, lemon butter and slaw. Or, the Oh Boy, Peaux Boy – a traditional New Orleans inspired peaux boy with cornmeal crusted Gulf shrimp tossed with their fresh cut Maine slaw, Remoulade a la New Orleans sauce, homemade pickle and scallion. If you’d like a platter instead of a roll, Dock and Roll Diner has that as well: The Maine Platter – a regular size Maine Event lobster mix portion served without the roll, with lettuce and tomato salad, slaw and potato chips. The Maine Jonah Crab Platter is also available – same as the Lobster platter but crab instead.
If you are out and about this weekend, you’ll find the Dock & Roll Diner Food Trailers at: 1503 S. 1st St. next to the Elizabeth Street Café in the Bouldin Creek neighborhood; and at 1905 So. Capitol of TX Hwy in the Midway Food Park about ¼ mile from Rudys and right next to Tres Amigos.
