MY MONDAY MORNING WORKOUT

Bad way to start the week.  I got on the scale at the YMCA and weighed 205.  Three pounds heavier than Friday.  Not to worry....

After a weekend of "poisons": beer, cupcakes, junk food, etc., it is not unusual for me to gain a couple pounds.  I gained three.  My weight will fluctuate quite a bit.

Anyway, I needed to give my feet (still bad blisters) and knees a little rest, so instead of running, I got on the elliptical thingy (the one with the arm cranks) for a half hour.  It's a good running substitute.  However, nothing really is a substitute for running.

I followed that with my core workout.  I got this one out of Runners World:

Take a dumbbell.  Lie on your back with arm extended, dumbbell in the air.  Then, keeping arm extended, stand up.  That's it.  I think it is a great total body workout.  Supposed to be great for the abs.

I started with a 15 pound dumbbell about 6 weeks ago.  I am now up to a 35 pounds.

Anyway, it feels good.  I do two sets of ten, alternating arms (a total of 10 on each arm).

Try it.  It feels kind of funny at first.  But you can tell it is good for you.

Well, we have yoga class tomorrow.  If I can keep the "poisons" to a minimum today, I will be back on my way to health and happiness by August 7th!

Hi Ken,

Sounds like a good workout...now why would you put that poison in your body after you worked so hard? :)

That's a great workout! Now it's off for me to do mine! Mornings are too busy to get it in for me.... :-)
