An Ahhhh-Mazing Brunch in Exeter Township...

As many of you know, yesterday (originally written 1/19/2015)  in Exeter Township Berks County  (like many other areas on the I-95 corrider in the Northeast) the weather was very trecherous,  to put it mildly.  Icy roads had kept most of us off the roads in the early part of the day.

Over the holidays we had discovered one of the most fabulous brunches known to man (or woman, in my opinion!).  Little to my knowledge, a place that I drive by EVERY DAY- was hiding a huge secret from me- the food at their Sunday Brunch was incredible AND what I thought was for members only was OPEN TO THE PUBLIC-- The Reading Country Club on Perkiomen Ave in Exeter Township!

Please excuse me, I digress.  Yesterday, it was our plan to make a visit  for some delicious omelets, seafood salad,  and to die-for desserts among the many other delicious goodies on the menu.  That is until I stepped out the front door only to slide all the way down my sidewalk to the car.  You see, it's my policy on the weekends NOT to turn on the TV or the radio-- to rest the brain, if you will from all the craziness of the world for at least a little while.  I was blissfully clueless that the area was literally frozen in an icy straight jacket, bringing travel to a stand still.  Did I feel ashamed that when I turned on the Weather Channel, the FIRST and ONLY thing that came to my mind was that I refused to miss out on the Sunday Brunch that I had so awaited all week?  Well, maybe a tiny bit.

I made a call to the Reading Country Club to find out what their status was.  I very kind gentleman named Brett quickly answered the phone and told me that it had taken him over an hour to travel from Leesport (usually about a twenty minute trip) and the roads were terrible.  BUT, he and the staff were there and the Brunch was going on, but we should be safe and choose carefully whether or not we wanted to venture out.  We shouldn't worry about our reservation- just come when we could should we choose to do so.  IF?  Well of course I was coming!  We did wait until later in the day- but we DID get there and to the thrill of my happy happy HAPPY taste buds all the amazing dishes were waiting for me!

It was WELL WORTH the trip!  We joked that no wonder all the beautiful new communities were being built in the  Exeter Township area around The Reading Country Club- they wanted to be close for the Sunday Brunch!
