"For every problem, there is a solution. ..." - Henry Louis Mencken

My mobile office is equipped with just about everything I need to do a remote closing assignment: a laptop computer, HP 1022 laser printer, and power supplied by a power inverter. The one thing that I don't lug around is my fax machine.
Occasionally I will need to fax copies of documents. For example, when I did on-site inspections I would have to send photos. I would also have to submit a copy of the company's stationery with their letterhead and business card.
Taking a photo of a document is quite simple to do with a digital camera. And if you can do that, you can also fax that same document without the need of a fax machine.
The first thing you will need to do of course is take the photo of the document. (See: Getting a copy of the borrower's ID with a digital camera)

Then upload it to your laptop computer (assuming you don't carry your desktop PC around with you). In this case, I'm going to upload it using the software that came with my camera -- Kodak EasyShare.
Once the photo has been uploaded I am ready to send it as a fax. I'll locate the document in Windows Explorer:
Then right click on it, bringing up the menu which will enable me to 'Send to Fax Recipient'.
That will take me to my 'eFax' software. I'm ready to send it:

It will even make a cover sheet:

I'll need to be connected to the internet, of course. For that I can connect using my Palm Treo 700p which works as a wireless modem, or you can go to a Wi-Fi hotspot:
This is a photograph of the document:
This is how the text appears to the recipient. They can read every word of it:

I don't suggest doing this if you have 30 pages of fax backs. But for the occasional 1 or 2 pages that you want to fax, this is a possible solution.
Good luck.
