Former First Lady Barbara Bush reads to College Station students on Thursday, January 29th.  In a video conference at the Annenberg Presidential Conference Center. Mrs Bush will be answering questions from American students as well as students studying internationally.  She will also read excerpts from author Lynn Curlee's book "Rushmore" about our US history between World War I and World War II as well as what it took to create one of our country's most treasured monuments, Mount Rushmore.  Hall Davidson, Director of the Discovery Education Network, will demonstrate a specific technology called "augmented reality".  This is a way of bringing just about any book to life using student content development.  There will be Reading Buddies on stage to help with the interaction.  The entire program will finish up with a beautiful performance by the Texas A&M Singing Cadets.

Your child and their class may have an opportunity to interact directly with the former First Lady when Barbara Bush reads to College Station students.  Talk to their teacher about submitting questions beforehand.  Mrs Bush will select some questions to answer via video conference.  Your child's class could be part of this live interaction!

For more information about the event or how to submit questions, please email bush.education@nara.gov or call the George Bush Presidential Library & Museum at (979) 691-4006.  Don't take too much time, though.  When Barbara Bush reads to College Station students, she just might talk to your child directly.
