I never thought of myself  as "getting old" until the other day.  A friend of mine had been badgering me about my lack of participation in Active Rain.  And I realize now that I did not want to try it because I knew nothing about it!  I felt behind the eight ball because of the "unknown", and a little bit like a stick in the mud, or "old fuddy duddy".  I have to say that I got a better understanding this morning from a simple conversation with Fran today, beginnings as it were, and I will be diving into the water head first!  Updated my profile, posted my first blog.....I don't know what I can accomplish next..... Maybe I'll leap tall buildings in a single bound!

I use this turtle picture for a reason.  Yes, I was reluctant at first, and maybe got out of the gate slowly, but, at a steady pace, I have a shot at being a winner of the race too!   I already feel like a winner.  I have just been able to scratch an item off my "to do" list that has been there forever!

Turtle

Hi Donna, I KNOW how you feel.  I have been here since January and am still learning a lot.  I too was ever so nervous but decided since everyone was jumping off of the bridge, I would jump too!  Welcome, you will have so much fun here at AR!

I was watching a program on 'Noggin' (it's like preschool on TV) with my 2 little ones where a jack-rabbit challenged a turtle to a race. To make a short story even shorter, the jack-rabbit took off while the turtle slowly & steadily trotted along. The jack-rabbit was so far ahead he decided to take a nap. By the time he'd awaken, the turtle had won the race. Sometimes slow & steady is a good thing. Welcome to Active Rain!

Congratulations Donna for getting your flippers wet!  I love active rain, I have learned so much since I joined.  I have gotten alot of new ideas and a few referrals.  It is a great place to network, post your listings, let off some steam and seek professionals that have the same standards you do in your every day profession.

Welcome to becoming active in active rain!

Way to go girl!  I so agree with you - I turned 50 last year and for the first time thought hmmm.....i'm not finding change so easy anymore!  The unknown doesn't always have quite the same level of excitement.....hmmm......as a kid i used to love the challenge of jumping into a 'cold and icy lake'...while others dipped their toes and said 'too cold'.........I guess thats what I have to do these days ....not do so much 'toe dipping'....smiles
